GOD IS IN CONTROL

ALL THE TIME

EVEN WHEN WE DONT "FEEL" LIKE HE IS.....

HE IS.

Psalm 18:2 - The Lord is my Rock, My Fortress and my deliverer.

This verse has been huge to me in this season of life. God keeps reminding me of how amazing he is and SOLID he is to trust in. Dave and I were able to go to a real Fortress when we went through Austria a few months back. It was high, high up on a massive hill,  different than just a castle... it was totally safe and surrounded by huge walls that the enemies below could never get to. It is a great picture of what that verse means when he says ... "The Lord is my Fortress"  Thankyou Lord.

I am writing from Beautiful New Zealand. Kaden and I are here with my amazing family while dave is at a conference/ prayer week in Seattle. It has been a fantastic time of refreshing, and finally... yes finally feeling the creative Juices flowing back into my heart. Its been a long time since there was joy in writing, and creating music. I think alot had to do with getting used to being a mother and how much time that takes... but also the crazy touring schedule this year.  we have about 1 week and a half left here before heading back home to hawaii. We will spend Christmas together there this year... just our little family, and of course our friends and all the students at the Uof N!!!! www.uofnkona.edu

For those of you who have had questions about what Luminous www.luminousrock.com is doing..... we have all been having  a break...  but luminous will continue in JAN. 07 next year... more news in detail to come on that...

We appreciate your prayers so much

God bless you all.....

NATALIE

NEW ZEALAND TOUR IS FINISHED!
We are now all back in kona. A few days after we
arrived dave, kaden and I, were hit with a bad cold
and cough, so we have been out of it for about 4 days
It just knocked us out!!! Pray for kaden as he is
still fighting a bad cough , the doctor thinks its
bronchitis.

REFLECTING ON THE TOUR
We have felt so privileged that God would allow us to
tour back in New Zealand, and thankful for all he did
through us. This tour has been amazing, so busy with
37 venues in 45 days. we have seen over a hundred
people respond to the gospel and many others recommit
and desire to live lives committed to Christ. Its been
hard at times with kaden teething.... and such a
packed schedule.. but Gods grace has been amazing. We
all thought that this was our best tour thus far.
I suppose a natural progression really!
Here is a recap of some of the venues we have been
to since the last update....

* GREYMOUTH - It is always so great to go a revisit
kids that we have seen before.... we have now been to
greymouth 3 times. We played at a high school and
invited kids to come to the concert in the night time.
The kids were really into the music. Dave spoke really
well giving his testimony in his usual humor and a
great challenge... the pastor said he had not seen the
kids sit so still almost ever!!!
I think the most encouraging part of the night was a
girl who came up to me that said she had raised her
hand last time we were there to become a christian and
how she had been making a difference in her school
sharing the gospel. As I was talking to her 2 girls
came by her and put there arms around her and said"
she is the reason we are Christians"!! So great to see
the ripple affect, as we don't often get to see that.
We were greatly encouraged and told her to keep it
up!! This is why we do what we do.... to see kids
lives changed and to have them make a difference.

*CITY NEW LIFE CHURCH - This was a cool night...
this church is where I went very often as a teenager
at night on Sundays. My friend in high school also
was the pastors son and this night he shared after we
played our music and it was really neat to join with
an old friend from years back and minster. 4 responded
to the gospel.

*SUMNER ANGLICAN YOUTH GROUP - We had a night that
was about listening to God and waiting on him to hear
his voice. We had a small teaching from dave and I...
then a time of just waiting on God while Jericho
played the piano and they had there bibles and a piece
of paper each to listen. It was a interesting night of
God speaking to people.

*GRACE VINEYARD YOUTH GROUP - This was a really
amazing night so i will describe in detail....... I
was asked to speak and focus on the topic of Purity
for this evening. This was interesting timing for this
topic because in Christchurch there was a convention
called "Erotica" going on that week with Porn stars
and terrible things going on in the city. Our band
did some original songs acoustically then the youth
pastor interviewed dave with some questions on purity.
Dave did a great job of being really real and
open.... he has such a way of connecting when he
shares......then I came up to speak. This is a
subject that I am very passionate about. At the end of
the night I gave out some pieces of paper for kids to
write some standards and lines that they did not want
to cross to keep pure and not fall into temptation. As
Jericho was playing the keyboard while they began to
write down things..... I just had a prompting from the
Holy Spirit to ask if there was anyone that had not
begun that relationship with Jesus and understood the
gospel ... and if so did they want to commit there
lives to him.... hands just flew up and about 15
people responded to the gospel. So we sent them with
the youth pastor and another leader to go pray and
connect with the leaders. PRAISE GOD! Its always so
exciting to see that. We then moved into a time of
repentance and worship and asking God for purity. The
Holy Spirit was moving so much and kids were really
responding to God. In fact this one kid was
worshiping and he just fell straight back and thump!
It was quite funny actually and we were worried he
might be hurt but he was fine. some leaders prayed
with him.
A young boy about 13 years old said he had a word to
share from God with the group. he went on to say that
he sensed an evil presence trying to get into the
church but when they tried they could not because of
the light from everyone. He felt that there was huge
attack on purity and that the devil wanted to win but
God wanted everyone to keep there standards. This was
really neat to see a young boy getting a picture from
God and speaking up so boldly. We had a time where
they could raise there hands to commit to God to be
Sexually pure until marriage and we asked God to help
them keep strong in that commitment.

At the end of the night we got to talk with a lot of
kids.... one girl who had prayed to accept Christ was
just crying and saying she could not believe what she
had just experienced... she was so thankful to God and
just radiating with joy.
another girl I talked to opened up with some intense
struggles and past attempts to kill herself and a lack
of hope for living. She ended up Recommitting her life
to Christ and we prayed for HOPE and Gods love to fill
her life again.

PURITY - this is a HUGE issue that is under attack
in our generation.... movies, mag's, Internet... man
its so important to encourage each other to stand
strong. We need each other to keep accountable. This
goes for really any age that we are.... I encourage
you to find people who can keep you accountable and
pray for purity in an impure world.

JETSET LOUNGE - on at 11pm at night....this was our
2nd BAR that we have played at.. (the first was on the
ferry! but the first on dry land!!) It was really
great to be a light in this kind of place... 2 other
bands played with us and I think we have seen an area
God is calling us into more! We want to be bold for
JESUS and learn how to do that in bars!

AVONHEAD BAPTIST- This is greg's church..... about
30 dts students from the YWAM base in Oxford came out
to support us. This was the end concert of the tour
and the church went nuts.... we all just felt really
free on stage and had a really intense time
of response to God and worship at the end and
intercession over Christchurch. 3 responded to the
gospel. Praise God.

Thank you for all your prayers and support for the New
Zealand tour. We do feel you are a huge part of what
we do.

NEWS - Our bass player Greg will not be coming
anymore to do the dts, or tour in Europe. He asked us
to pray with him in our last week in New Zealand about
his next steps and we all felt a peace from God that
his time with Luminous was ending. He has been with us
for almost a year and we have been blessed to have him
and we know God has great things ahead for Greg. We
will be praying and looking for a new bass player
(once again!!!). Please pray with us.

NANNY - We now have a nanny for our Europe tour....
Jericho's cousin Hannah!! This is a God thing... Her
name came to my mind in the middle of the night one
night as I was up with kaden.....so I asked Jericho to
ask her and she is super excited to come and serve God
helping with kaden and Praying and ministering to
people in Europe. Thank you JESUS!!

WHATS NEXT FOR LUMINOUS -
We are coming into a season of really seeking God for
fresh vision and revelation into how to reach our
generation through music and media. We will all be
working based out of the University of the Nations for
the next 3 months. While our drummer Tim Wells does
his lecture phase of the dts, we will be joining in
with this group... also creating music, practicing as
a band and planning the tour to Europe which starts
June 28th in Germany. Jericho our keyboard player will
be also creating new media for behind the songs and
promo DVD's.
We will be involved helping with the worship times on
campus and in the DTS schools.

PRAYER -
-We would appreciate Prayer for our family, marriage,
and our communication as a couple and leaders. That we
would grow in this season closer and closer to God and
eachother.

- Prayers as we refine once again the ministry God
has given us to do to best reach the youth around the
world with the gospel.

- Please pray for Gods leading as we plan the tour in
Europe... we really need divine leading in the
planning of this tour.

- Finances - for all that is needed to get to Europe
for each member of the band

- Pray for Gods huge revelations to come to us all
for the vision of luminous and where God is taking it.

- Pray for a new Bass player - we need someone before
the Europe tour

Thank you for all your prayers and support..... we
could not do this without you. May God bless you and
fill you with the JOY of knowing him today.

We have new phone numbers - give us a call to catch up

Hello from Christchurch. We have finished our North Island tour and now we are starting the South Island part! God has been so faithful!!!
SEE THE BOTTOM OF THE EMAIL FOR OUR GUITAR MIRACLE STORY!!!!....God is SO faithful.... thankyou to those of you who have been praying and given toward our guitars.  We hope you are encouraged by Gods faithfulness in this story. He is our loving father
- See attached photo of Kaden at the Parachute music festival with his protective head phones to keep the loud music out!!!!! Jericho did some art on them to make them cool!!!
Here is a brief outline of what we have been up to!
* - Chinese Church in Auckland. - We were so blessed to be working with this church and we had a combined Chinese church gathering. This was the first time they had done a youth event combining the youth groups and inviting others. - God really came and 2 people raised there hands to accept Christ ( they then went with some leaders to go and pray and talk in their own language). Then we had a great time of worship and God really broke through. By the end of the night we had them jumping in a song to God!! It was just great to see some freedom in worship as it was quite a conservative church. We had great conversations with people afterwards and just loved working with the Chinese churches!! I think there is more to come in the future.
* - Kaden is a TEETHING machine!!!! - Oh man... I have been so stretched on this tour!! Kaden has had such random sleeping patterns since he is teething (6 teeth). I have had to call out to God for strength and energy. The lack of sleep for both dave and I is hard but MAN God has been SO faithful and SO incredible to still move through our weakness. Please pray for energy and for Kadens teeth!!
* - WELLINGTON -  we all just loved this city!! this was our busiest time! ( Steve.. I met one of your roommates,  will - I think that was his name!!... he has dreds... he said to say hi!!)
Thur - Tawa Highschool - lunch time outreach concert and a fashion show walk thing! Very cool to connect with kids and invite them to the evening concert.
Thur night - Primal Youth Church - Great night... Time of worship was cool.... people really laying things down before God.
* -Fri - Wellington Girls College - Lunch time concert-fashion show - SO cool.... this is a huge girls highschool and we got to play for about 500 at least. They really responded to the music and we had some great talks after the concert.
* -Fri night - ZEAL CAFE - we played with 2 other bands in a cafe setting. This is an outreach cafe that builds relationships with people. It was great to meet the other bands and encourage them.
*- Saturday night - Blueprint Church - This church is a church plant of "THE ROCK" church. Awesome vision. This church was a cafe setting and is really growing so much. they focus alot on the arts and building relationships with mostly college aged people.  -
* - Sunday morning - THE ROCK - We just love this church... God has lead us here now our 3rd time! They are growing so much and God is doing great things here. - The band played one song and then I spoke on a topic in a series they are doing called" How to Make good choices" It was a great topic to think about and pray into.
God was so faithful even in my complete exhaustion from being up with Kaden!! We had a prayer time and worship time at the end and alot of people responded for prayer and we heard later that a man around his 40's who was visiting his brother at the church accepted Christ at the end! So thats always exciting... Parties in Heaven!!
The Rock church also was so generous in giving us a van to use for free in our time in wellington.
* - Sunday night - THE STREET church -  dave and I were at this church 4 and a half years ago on our very first tour and OH MAN has it grown since then. it is just awesome to see.... such solid leadership and loving people.  This night was just so fully led by the Holy spirit. - The message was on faith and stepping out in dreams and visions and at the end we had a time of worship and response. God just started moving and touching people. It was a time when even our band just felt so lost in the presence of God in worship.
* - Ferry crossing to the South Island - Our drummer Tim had a idea to get us a free ferry crossing so he kept calling and got our band a free ferry crossing (saving us hundreds of dollars!!). We played in the ship's bar area for an hour  or the three hour boat trip and even sold a few cd's. It was fun... no sound gear... just acoustic but very fun! God is so good!
* - Elim youth group - Good night.... small group but we had some great talks with kids at the end.
* - Timaru - New LIfe Church - combined youth groups - It was so great to visit this same group for the 2nd time... its always great to reconnect with the same kids and encourage them.  This was a really cool night .. dave shared his testimony and an awesome challege..... he has such great humor when he speaks!!  We ended with a powerful time of worship at the end and response. We had so much fun worshiping God and jumping and dancing before him!!
* Waimate - Combined Town event -  This was our second time in this small town and once again God was stirring. It seemed just like last time there was such spiritual warefare going on all day..... our van broke down - smoking. funny noises etc...
We went to the highschool and played at lunch time inviting the kids to the night service. Kaden had a really hard day of teething and so Kate stayed with him at a house that night during the program. As the night approached we just kept praying.... We had a range of age's though mostly this time quite young... like early teens and some late. During all the band songs it was so distracting and people coming in and out for a smoke outside etc. kids were into the music at the front dancing...which was good. As I was speaking and telling the gospel it was still alot of distractions but those listening were really listening. 10 kids accepted Christ!!  8 of them were not from any Christian background. We are now following them up and the churches are too.
The next day we baptised 3 kids down at the "COLD" river! Dave and I wore wet suits and it was such a privilage to baptise 2 girls and 1 guy. It was a great time.
* - SUMNER ANGLICAN CHRUCH - On sunday night we took the service here. This church has so loved us and supported us... We have practiced here alot!!  its my parents church. It was a great night and a really awesome time of worship.. really free and great to see breakthrough in that.
* - SPECIAL NEEDS SERVICE - Last night we took a service for people who have various problems physically or mentally. It was such an honor to be here and we dedicated the service to our friend Kate Burrell who died almost a year ago. She was an inspiration to us and we took this service last time here with her with us, so it was very special. I shared on how Kates life had affected us and on her favorite Psalm - Psalm 23. The presence of God is so in that place! When they worship ( almost everyone has differnent instruments) its so free and real.
We leave tomorrow for Grey Mouth... a little town on the West Coast. We love going here and this will be our 3rd time with this group.
WE appreciate your prayers SO MUCH!  Please continue to lift our group up and the youth here in N.Z. We have 2 weeks left....
Love in Christ....
Dave, Natalie and Kaden Bruce

 DAVE'S GUITAR MIRACLE
By David Bruce....
Let me just start by saying there are about 6 people in New Zealand that are left handed guitarist which has made it quite difficult to find a guitar.  So we were working with the a Chinese church in Auckland where we did a the worship workshop and a concert.  Which was a great experience!  They have never had a drum kit in their Church so you can imagine they were a little apprehensive having us.  However, the night was a success…a couple of young boys received Christ, and they were so excited about the night and the worship that leaders met and they are going to purchase music gear to start worship teams in the church.  They want us to come back and they will want to do a large outreach to the Chinese community in New Zealand which is around 120,000.
Anyhow, I found a guitar online through trademe (Ebay) The guy happened to live 10 minutes from where we were staying with the church.  So I drove over to his house to check out the Guitar.  His wife starts asking us all theses questions and it comes out that we work under Youth With A Mission.  She happened to be a counsleor and runs a ministry at their house.  Anyhow, to make a long story short He said, “I feel like the Lord wants me to give you this guitar.”  Well I just about cried. actually the truth be told I did a bit.  Nat and I have been having few rough days with the hectic schedule and lack of sleep because Kaden has 6 teeth coming in at 6 months old and he has been up alot at night and demanding because of the pain.  The guitar was  just God’s encouragment at the right time that we are not crazy!    It is a beautiful Maton guitar.  He paid $2000 for it so it is a very nice quality guitar.  Plus he gave us an amp, guitar leads which we needed, and a guitar bag.  God is so faithful!
It keeps going!  So we had this big older amp that we didn’t need so went to a pawn shop thinking we would be lucky if we could get $150.  The guy said nope sorry don’t need it!  So we were leaving and as were leaving the owner comes running out to the car and He starts chatting about it.  He said well what do you need.  I told him I need a floor guitar tuner….(which consequently run about $150) he said “Well I have one at my wharehouse I can get it to you tomorrow.”  I said well we are going to church in the morning and heading out of Auckland.  He said “Oh yeah which one” and  “I said CLCA”….He said “oh that’s my Church.”  So we made the exchange at church the next morning and then he invited us to have lunch at his house and then he gave us a bunch of guitar strings and some other equipment for the road.  In a Country that is 4 % Christian that is a Miracle to meet 2 out of the blue that blessed us greatly.  It is really cool to see How God is teaching us through this time.
NATALIE'S GUITAR -
by Natalie bruce..
The very next day after Dave got given a guitar!! dave saw on Trademe(ebay) the exact same guitar as the one that had been given to him... just a lighter color. He made a bid on it and we got an incredible deal... a 2000 dollar guitar for $900 dollars including a $300 dollar flight case! and a tuner! So basically the guitar was about $600 dollars. He surprised me and got it and brought it up to me yesterday as I was sitting on the couch. He said "try playing it".... I said. " its a left handed one, I can't!" He said "oh I changed the strings around"... then as I was playin it I realized it was a different guitar... it TOTALLY surprised me and I LOVE IT! It has a rich sound and compares with my old one. I loved my old guitar so its amazing that I like this one. We are very thankful! THANKYOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SENT DONATIONS TO US TO HELP PURCHASE THIS GUITAR!! Obviously God knows our needs and desires... and ultimatly He is our provider in this crazy existence we live in.

HELLO!!
We are in Auckland right now..... some brief time to write an update of some news and highlights from the past few weeks on tour!!!!

* First of all we finished recording "The Robe" a day before we left for Parachute...... it is still in the process of being mixed. We are happy with how it turned out... see www.wesking.com to support his cancer treatments and get that album.
*God miraculously got all our gear, 150lbs. over the limit, to the North Island with NO CHARGE! Not a single dollar was spent... God is so good.

* We still have not gotten any guitars, but I am borrowing one acoustic for the tour ( our bass player Gregs) and dave is trying to find a lefty guitar but its really hard here.( he has just used his electric guitar instead.. we do miss his acoustic.  THANKYOU to all of you who have donated to us gettting new guitars.... we will let you know when and where we get them. We are trying to find the best deal we can.

*Parachute rocked ! It was so awesome. We saw some great bands... my favorites were Delerious and Moped.
*I ( Natalie) got to meet Martin Smith from Delirious. A real "God thing" it was near the Artist Cafe near the stages. He endorsed the book that I wrote a few years ago called "Ignite the Fire". He remembered it... but he had not seen it!! I gave him a copy of the book and a copy of the Luminous CD. It was so great. He is a truely humble guy...

*Our  performances went good. It was weird playing on such a big stage (held 9,000) we didn't get NEAR that many  (more like 500)there, but it was a great experience overall. It was our first real performace with our new drummer Tim...and our first gig in over 8 months, so it was a little hard getting back into the groove... but it was good.
* We did a live acoustic performance and interview on "LIFE FM" and that was great... Jericho's parents actually heard it on the internet all the way in P.A!

*We met Kaden's nanny, Kate, at Parachute. She's 21 from Auckland, and she's a super-sweet girl. Kaden loves her and she is such a blessing!!

* Kaden is teething ! He is getting his top 4 teeth all at once and has gotten his bottom 2 ! This can be sore so pray for this to be a quick process!! other than that he has been a great traveler and God has been giving HUGE grace ( though I am up at night with him quite a bit lately!!)

*  FEB 2 - Hamilton Primal youth church -  God was awesome and we did some of our band songs, I spoke and shared the gospel...... we had an awesome time of worship and prayer and 4 girls stood to commit their lives to Jesus!

* FEB 3 - Auckland - Greenlane baptist church -  Awesome time.... great leaders... the band from the church played some opening songs and then we took the rest of the service.... at the end after the gospel 5 people stood and it was great because we talked for a good while after the service and found out that 4 of them were friends and had just come for the first time.  The other girl was a friend of the leader in charge of the planning for the outreach and he had been praying for her for a long time and was stoked that she stood up. God is good.... they were all connected to be followed up by people.

*FEB 5 - RAGLAN Surfside church - Great people! amazing hearts. We did a song in the morning service and then took the evening service.  We had a great time of worship and prayer at the end. These kids were really solid and on fire! So great to see.
*
*Feb 8 We are back in Auckland.... WE had a interview in the morning with Radio Rhema in the studio here (homegrown show) and then last night the band (accept me and kaden - teething issues!!) were at the Chinese church giving a workshop on worship and practical skills for being in a band and also the a teaching on the biblical foundation of worship. They said it was great to encourage them as they were just putting together a team for the first time in there church.

*Feb. 9  - tonight we are going to another Primal church in West Auckland and then our schedule continues down the north Island to Tauranga, then to Wellington and onto the south island.

THanks for your prayers  Please prayer for God to conntinually lead our nights as we meet young people and share about Jesus!!
IN Christ....
Nat, Dave and Kaden

Hello!! Things are going well here..... Planning our upcoming tour to N.Z and searching and interviewing a few potencial drummers( both from New Zealand). Kaden is growing so much... he is now 9 weeks and its very exciting to see him smile and coo at us!! We are praying also for someone to help us on tour with him.....as when we are on stage and ministering to youth it will be a need to have someone hold him and take care of him.
We've been asked to play a track on the upcoming Wes King Tribute album, where all proceeds will go toward the funding of his cancer treatments. We will be re-doing and re-recording his 1993 hit song, "The Robe" at Sweet Juice Studio in New Zealand (where we recorded our last CD). Other artists involved include: Phil Keaggy, The Kry, Scott Krippayne, and several others. It's exciting and so great that we have the opportunity to help out with this very worthwhile cause. We will have to raise money for our studio time ($1000) so pray that God provides this!

For more info on the CD...go to www.wesking.com and click on his tribute album link.

God bless you all!!! kaden sends hugs and kisses!!
Dave, nat and kaden
